Ever Had One Of Those Days?

Have you ever had one of those days?

You turned off the alarm…and went back to sleep. The coffee maker overflowed. The toaster started on fire. The kids just would not get ready.

So of course, they missed the bus, one forgot her lunch, the other didn’t finish his homework last night, the car wouldn’t start, and you were late for work. You of course called the office to tell them that you were on your way. The boss was mad, the staff was laughing. And it is not yet 8:00 am.

The day has just begun, and already you have had it. You just want to quit, no more kids, no more job, nothing except you. Sure, right, not a chance.

You’re a parent, there is no going back.

There are two ways to approach days like this. You could go back home after you drop them off at school, pack a bag, leave a note, and hit the road. Start a new life far away and pretend that you never even met any children. And that you never took that job. The guilt won’t make you crazy, because you already are.

Or, you drop them off, hug them extra tight, then go home and call in sick.

Take just one day, just for you, your children will benefit from your day off.

Watch a movie, read a book, anything you want. Relax, rest, recover.

If you are overwhelmed by your children and your job, then the children must come first.

Everyone needs a break, or we will break. Healthy and happy parents, raise healthy and happy kids. If we are not at our best as people, then we cannot do our best as parents.
