The Stages of a Daughters Opinion of Her Mother.

You’ve waited for this day for your whole life. Dreamed about it, planned for it, feared it, and anticipated this moment with every fiber of your being. Your daughter has finally arrived. She’s absolutely beautiful, and is looking up at your face with what could only be defined as rapture. She has to be, because that is how you are looking back at her of course.

However, let’s take a glimpse of what really is going on inside that perfect little head, from different moments throughout her life, from the first one until she is a mother herself.

Newborn – “It was warm in there, if I have to be out here, the least you could do is feed me”.

6 months old – “You are the most wonderful Mommy in the whole world, so soft, and warm, and always there when I need you”.

1 year old – “You’re such a smart Mommy, you know everything about everything”.

2 years old –“I know that you think you know what’s best for me, but I know what I want, and that I want it NOW!”

5 years old – “You’re the best Mommy in the world, you’re strong, and smart, and funny, and nice, and beautiful, and when I grow up, I want to be a Mommy just like you”.

9 years old – “You’re not as horrible as some of my friends’ mothers”.

12 years old – “You’re the most awesome Mom in the history of moms!”

14 years old – “You are the worst mother in the history of all mothers!”

16 years old – “You know absolutely nothing about anything, and what you do know is wrong”.

18 years old – “When I have a daughter, I will never raise her the way you raised me”.

25 years old – “You’re not really all that bad; I guess you were right about some things, sometimes”.

30 years old – “You must be the smartest and the most wonderful mother in the history of mothers”.

35 years old – “I am so glad that my daughter and I have you to turn to”.

45 years old – “I am so glad that I never treated you the way my daughter treats me”.

55 years old – “You have no idea what this daughter of mine is putting me through”.

There is a saying where I live, that every girl grows up wanting a daughter of her own, and that every mother waits for her daughter to grow up, so that she can have a daughter that will be just like she was.
