The Crib: A Blog for New Parents
One, Two, Three Or More
How do you know when your family is complete? How many children is enough for you? How many is too many? This is a very individual decision. When I was scheduling my third c-section I was asked repeatedly if I wanted to have a Tubal Ligation also. I was shocked at this question. How could I decide if three children were too many if I only had two? Well the differences in family size are definitely there. My experience has been that when we had one child, it was pretty easy. I could just pack him up and take him wherever I went. When there were two and it got a little tougher. But my husband and I could split the load. He would take one and I would take the other. Now there are three. We are totally outnumbered. The tables have turned and the children have taken over. Thank God for Grandma! We have definitely slowed down quite a bit. Even trips to the grocery store take careful planning. Even a short two hour trip requires packing the large bag --- three sizes of diapers, wipes, extra clothes, burp cloths, bottles, a sippy cup, snacks, formula, baby water, and toys. Leaving the house is exhausting. Maybe it will get easier when the kids get older and we can decide then if three is enough.
